A 30 inch wide, 12 inch tall wall cabinet with two doors. The W3012 is a double door wall cabinet in the Sterling line, with an open bay behind a pair of doors.

Size. 30 inches wide, 12 inches high and 12 inches deep.

In the carton. 2 doors, with the box shipped flat.

Construction. A plywood box with a solid wood face frame and full overlay doors on concealed soft-close hinges. The Sterling door is a classic shaker with a wider frame.

Finish. Snow, a real painted cool near white. Real paint and stain only, never paper, thermofoil or melamine.

Assembly. The box goes together on a licensed click-together system: 100% tool-free box assembly, no cam locks. Anything wood-to-wood clicks together, no tools, no glue, no screws. The only parts that need screws are the metal ones: hinges, drawer glides and pulls. Mounting it to the wall takes a drill.

Where it goes. A short wall cabinet goes above a refrigerator, over a range hood, or stacked on top of a taller upper run toward the ceiling. Wall cabinets hang with their tops aligned, so choose the height first, then fill the run by width. Order it in Sterling Snow with the rest of the run so the door style and finish match.

Questions about wall cabinets

What height wall cabinets do I need?

Measure floor to ceiling in three places and use the lowest. On an 8 foot ceiling, use 36 inch wall cabinets over a 36 inch counter with an 18 inch gap, and crown molding closes the last 6 inches to the ceiling. On a 9 foot ceiling, 42 inch wall cabinets fit with crown on top.

What heights and depths do wall cabinets come in?

Wall cabinets are 12 inches deep, in heights of 12, 15, 18, 24, 30, 36 and 42 inches. The short heights go above a refrigerator or a range hood, or stack on a taller cabinet, and 24 inch deep wall cabinets line up with the front of a refrigerator.

How high do wall cabinets hang?

The usual gap from the countertop to the underside of the wall cabinets is 18 inches, which puts the bottom of the wall cabinets about 54 inches off the floor.

How do I hang wall cabinets?

Hang them before the base cabinets, starting in a corner. Draw a level line at about 54 inches, screw a ledger board to the studs along it, rest each cabinet on the ledger and drive cabinet screws through the back into the studs. Get a second person for the lifting.

What finishes the top of the wall cabinets?

Crown molding, in small, medium and large profiles, in the same finish as the cabinets. Each crown piece ships with one crown molding extension (CME) in the same finish, so order one CME per crown piece. Stacking molding builds it taller toward a high ceiling, and light rail molding under the cabinets hides under-cabinet lighting.

How long does it take to put together?

A box clicks together on the licensed SnapCore system in under 2 minutes, about 10x faster than traditional RTA cabinets built with cam locks, dowels and glue. Anything wood-to-wood clicks together, with no tools, no glue and no screws. Only the metal parts need screws: hinges, drawer glides and pulls.
